The story of Sensarte is about giving care to the people who matter.

In my early twenties, I left home to study in New York City. When my mother visited, the places she spent most time at were local markets and my kitchen—Cooking is her greatest joy. She loves making different dishes, each one thoughtfully prepared like a work of art. And I would stand by her side, helping with small tasks. Cooking with her dragged me from the pressure of study and of cultural adjustment as a fresh student.

Hand-made meals are about health. Not just eating well, but also eating comfortably—It’s her philosophy about cooking. From the weekly meals prepping and kitchen conversations we shared, I learned that cooking is a way of expressing love.

It was a sunny Sunday during exam weeks, and my mom scalded her hand while cooking.

While she was answering the phone, the soup on the stove boiled over and began to burn at the bottom. Without realizing how hot the handle had become, she rushed to move the pot. The handle was scorching, she screamed, the pot slipped from her grasp, and the boiling soup spilled onto her hand.

It was one of the few of the only days I wasn’t cooking with her—I had been studying late for days for an exam, she said she was going to make a new dish she had just learned, and asked me to take a break.

It took weeks for her hands to heal, and for a long time, she couldn’t cook the way she loved. I was wracked with guilt and worry, and even felt a sense of fear whenever I saw her in the kitchen.

After graduation, I resolved to develop a nonstick pan that prevents burning—one that makes cooking safer. Cooking expresses care and connects people; the cookware maker should also show the same care for every product, every service, and every customer.

Just like the name suggests, Sensarte believes every home-made dish is an art of craftsmanship, passion, and love and care for each other.
